New setup for measurement of prompt gammas from neutron interactions

Prompt gamma radiation from neutron interactions is an important issue as it affects the operation of nuclear facilities (radiation protection or heating issues) has various uses (non-destructive identification elements). Despite importance, its production inaccurately described in present data libraries. Therefore, a set experiments have been carried out focusing on this - prompt inelastic scattering oxygen and radiative capture manganese, both form aqueous solution. The gammas were induced by Am-Be source (for oxygen) 252Cf spontaneous fission manganese). In case oxygen, libraries can be used, but all tested overestimated experiment 20–30%, considering experimental uncertainty 6-9%. INDEN-4.0 library giving best results. none give acceptable INDEN updated for manganese usable results, there still discrepancy -36% to 55% with uncertainties 6-15%.
